Lone Star Trails Community Powder Puff Derby – Rules

  1. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AND BEHAVIOR IS EXPECTED! 
  2. Cars may weigh no more than 5 ounces (each car must be weighed in before it is allowed to race).
  3. Your car can be decorated anyway you want it to be using the basic pinewood derby car as a base. 
  4. Creativity is encouraged, but decorations must be firmly attached.
  5. The original wheelbase dimension must be kept (do not narrow the wheel base).
  6. The original wheelbase and axle slots must be kept (no new holes).
  7. Only BSA approved cars, wheels, and axles are permitted.
  8. Once the cars have been submitted to race officials, the cars MAY NOT be pulled from the race except in cases where repairs must be made.
    1. Cars can be pulled for repairs by the race officials only.
    2. Cars will be pulled if they can not go down the track.
    3. Cars will be pulled if they do not cross the finish line.
    4. Cars WILL NOT be pulled in order to reapply dry lubricant unless the race officials approve.
  9. Repairs are allowed, but cars must be reweighed before racing again.
  10. Only dry lubricant is allowed to be used on the cars.
  11. Siblings and adults may submit a car to race as well, but these cars will be placed in a separate category.
  12. A new car must be submitted each year.  Cars from previous years may not be resubmitted.
  13. The PowderPuff committee has the right to disqualify anyone not following the rules.  This committee also has the right to have the final say on all decisions made on race day.
  14. Girls may bring a camera, but they are responsible for keeping up with them.
